¡Hola!
¡Bienvenidos a mis clases
de español!
|
Welcome to the exciting journey through el mundo del español! I am looking forward to a wonderful year with all my Spanish classes.
I know we will have fun learning this “Romance language” which is now spoken by hundreds of millions earth wide. Spanish, el español or el castellano, is the national language of twenty countries. It is a popular second language for millions in the United States of America and it is the second most popular language spoken iin Florida. Spanish is fun to learn, but is not easy. It is a challenge to learn a new language. It will require dedication and responsibility on the part of each member of the class. It will require a lot of work! But it will be fun to speak and understand a new language, while experiencing some of its cultures and traditions. I hope you are ready to learn and practice your listening, reading, speaking and writing en español everyday like you've never did before. Do your best, have a positive attitude, an open mind, and the desire to learn something every day and you will soon say, “Yo hablo español”. |
About me
My name is Mirthia Feliciano–Pérez. I was born in February 28, 1959 in the beautiful city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, better known as “La Perla del Sur” (Pearl of the South). After been accepted to the Pre-Med Program at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Ponce Puerto Rico, I decided to pursue a career in Education, my real passion. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 1988 with a Bachelor Degree in Science of Education and a Minor Degree in General Science. I worked as a teacher in Puerto Rico for 15 years, teaching different school levels; elementary, middle and high school. I also worked in a Juvenile Detention Center preparing teenagers to complete school.
In 2001, because of medical issues with my only son, I decided to follow two of my brothers and moved to Edgewater, here in Florida. I started working in 2002 as a Spanish teacher in a private school where I spent seven wonderful years. In August 2010 I received the opportunity to work for the Volusia County School Board. I worked at New Smyrna Middle School, New Smyrna High School, Atlantic High School, and University High School.
As for today, I am working at Seabreeze High School, where I’m having the best time ever and where I am planning to retired some day.
Besides teaching, I enjoy reading, traveling, going to the beach, listening to my Spanish music, salsa dancing and the company of family and friends.
