Grading and Making-up Policy
- Any work turned in after due date will receive a minus 10% late penalty. After the fifth day you will receive only 50% of the credit. Incomplete assignments are NOT accepted and will NOT GET ANY credit.
- Students who are absent from school will be expected to find out assignments they missed through Savvas or Canvas and the make- up most be completed within two days of the absence (48 hours). This rule does not apply to any assignment with due dates set well in advance. Any student absent on the day of any summative assessment will have 5 days after his/her return to make-up the assessment. Student must make arrangements with me for a make-up time. Missing an arranged make-up time will end on receiving a zero for that work. In case of prolonged absences more time may be approved as determined by the teacher.
- For Re-takes, a score of 70% on a summative test shows proficiency. A test grade below 70% should be retaken. For EACH summative assessment ONE retake is allowed.
- Hard work pays, if by the end of the year you have no missing work or F's in the gradebook, and your GPA in this is class is between 4.0 and 3.50 you will be exempt of the final test.

Requirement Projects
As a requirement for this Spanish class you may complete two major Spanish
Cultural projects, one for the Hispanic Heritage Month and one for the Volusia County World Language Festival. Both will be evaluated as a summative assessment and will follow my grading policy. If your project wins any prize (1st, 2nd, or 3rd place) at the festival you will receive extra credit at the end of the second semester.

Important Notes
- Not bringing your required materials will affect your grade, please make sure you come to class prepared with everything you need every day.
- Computer/technical issues are not a valid excuse for late work.
- Evidence of copying and cheating will result in an automatic zero.
- Keep all graded assignments.
- Cell phones are awesome. We will use them in class to complete some activities. However, Social Media and your social life can wait! Have your phone out only when you have explicit permission.
- Study each day for at least 15 minutes outside of class.
--Make flashcards (and study with them!) to help you learn vocabulary.
--Ask someone to help quiz you on your vocabulary list. - Periodically review material from previous units. Spanish builds on itself so you will still need to know what we’ve already learned as the year progresses. It is not wise to “cram” material in before a quiz or test. The things that you did not learn will continue to haunt you throughout the year.
Behavior Management
Students are expected to follow the Seabreeze High School Honor Code
* Any student presenting a behavior that stops me from teaching and/or keep other students from learning, after reasonable warning should expect parent contact and/or discipline referral.
* Any student caught copying and cheating, including plagiarizing, will receive a zero on the assignment.
